I don’t understand why they still have to use pesticides and chemicals on bamboo. They can grow anywhere, fast!

Well, we have lots and lots of bamboo over here but zero pandas...

Nobody thinks twice before using pesticides...such practices defy all sense and logic except its great marketing by pesticides firm.

Just like grasses don’t need to be re-planted the same way bamboo continues to grow new shoots from its extensive root system, the roots also prevent the earth from erosion. Everybody in the world knows that these are one of world’s fastest growing plants and hence need no fertilizers for growth. So why are they using it???They release oxygen, while removing CO2 from the atmosphere and are becoming a path against global warming. I think these dim-wits need to read this comment!:P

Yes, Nithya, inspite of all talks of organic farming, natural farming, there is rampant use of fertilisers and pesticides. Its sheer stupidity to use it on bamboos...but I guess its marketing by fertiliser companies who have unvoidable become part of the chain.
